The project
A private club in central Bayonne wanted to give its members a real circuit: dry heat, steam, hot water, swimming pool, then rest. We drew the whole as a succession of atmospheres, each with its own light and material, linked by a simple route.
The constraints
The project fitted into the lower floors of an occupied building: little height, neighbours above, and atmospheres that oppose each other, saturated steam on one side, dry sauna air on the other.
What we did
Each atmosphere received its own waterproofing, ventilation and insulation, and noisy equipment was decoupled from the structure. Underfloor heating, the green mosaic of the pool and the sauna timber give the whole a calm unity despite the variety of uses.
